Dental Bonding

How long does the bonding process take?

How are teeth prepared for bonding?

The dentist will lightly etch the surface of the tooth and then apply the bonding liquid. Once the liquid sets, a plastic resin is applied.

Will the plastic resin look like my real tooth?

Yes. There are multiple color options to match the color of your other teeth. Also, the plastic resin is sculptable and can be shaped to look like your other teeth. Once set, the resin can be trimmed, smoothed, and polished to look like it’s your natural tooth.

How long will the bonding last?

Dental bonding will not last as long as a veneer or crown, however, if you practice good oral hygiene and are careful not to abuse your teeth by chewing ice or grinding your teeth you should be able to enjoy the benefits of bonding for close to a decade. Brushing your bonded teeth after drinking liquids that can stain, like coffee or red wine, can help to maintain their bright color. This is important because bonding is resistant to whitening products. Dental bonding is a great cost-effective treatment for chipped, yellowed, or misshapen teeth.
